Lacy Waves Market Tote - Free Crochet Pattern - The Lavender Chair

Materials:

Worsted Weight Cotton Yarn (Lily’s Sugar’n Cream)

  • 200 Yards of each color

I 5.50mm Crochet Hook

Yarn Needle

Size:

15 inches wide x 13 inches tall

Difficulty:

Gauge:

13 Hdc = Approx. 4 inches

Stitches:

SS: (slip stitch) – insert hook into stitch, yarn over, pull through stitch and loop

Ch: (chain) – yarn over, pull through loop

Sc: (single crochet) – insert hook into stitch, yarn over, draw up loop, yarn over, pull through 2 loops

Hdc: (half double crochet) – yarn over, insert hook into stitch, yarn over,  draw up loop, yarn over, pull through 3 loops

Dc: (double crochet) – yarn over, insert hook into stitch, yarn over, draw up loop, yarn over, pull through 2 loops, yarn over, pull through 2 loops

Tr: (treble crochet) – yarn over 2 times, insert hook into stitch, yarn over, draw up loop, yarn over, pull through 2 loops, yarn over, pull through 2 loops, yarn over, pull through 2 loops

Notes:

  • I used regular worsted weight yarn for the tote pictured but, it is best to use worsted weight, cotton yarn for a sturdier finish.
  • Turning chain does NOT count as your first stitch (unless otherwise specified). So, when working flat, be sure to work your first stitch in the very first stitch. And when working in the round, be sure to work your first stitch in the same stitch as join.

Instructions:

Chain 36

Round 1: 3Hdc in the third chain from hook. Hdc in the next 32 chains. 6Hdc in the last chain. Working along the backside of the chains Hdc across to the last stitch. 3Hdc in the final chain. Join with a SS to the first Hdc made. (76 stitches)

Round 2: Chain 1. 2Hdc in the next 3 stitches. Hdc in the next 32 stitches. 2Hdc in the next 6 stitches. Hdc in the next 32 stitches. 2Hdc in the next 3 stitches.  Join with a SS to the first Hdc made. (88 Stitches)

Round 3: Chain 1. (2Hdc. Hdc) x’ s 3. Hdc in the next 32 stitches. (2Hdc. Hdc) x’s. 6. Hdc in the next 32 stitches. (2Hdc. Hdc) x’ s 3. Join with a SS to the first Hdc made. (100 stitches)

Round 4: Chain 1. (2Hdc. Hdc in the next 2 stitches) x’ s 3. Hdc in the next 32 stitches. (2Hdc. Hdc in the next 2 stitches) x’s. 6. Hdc in the next 32 stitches. (2Hdc. Hdc in the next 2 stitches) x’ s 3. Join with a SS to the first Hdc made. (112 stitches)

Round 5: Chain 1. Working in the BLO Hdc around. Join with a SS to the first Hdc made. (112) stitches)

Round 6 – 11: Chain 1. Hdc around. Join with a SS to the first Hdc made. (112 stitches)

Round 12: Chain 1. *Sc in the next 3 stitches. Chain 1. Skip 1. Hdc. Chain 1. Skip 1. Dc. Chain 1. Skip 1. Tr. Chain 1. Skip 1. Tr. Chain 1. Skip 1. Dc. Chain 1. Skip 1. Hdc. Chain 1. Skip 1.* Repeat from * to * around. Join with a SS to the first Sc made.

Round 13 -14: Chain 1. Sc around. Join with a SS to the first Sc made. (112)

Round 39 – 43: Chain 1. Sc in each stitch around. Join with a SS to the first Sc made. (112)

Round 44: Chain 1. Sc 27. Chain 50. Skip 25 stitches. Sc 31. Chain 50. Skip 25 stitches. Sc in the last 4 stitches. Join with a SS to the first Sc made.

Round 45 – 50: Chain 1. Sc in each stitch around. Join with a SS to the first Sc made. (162)
