Carrot Patch Easter Basket - Free Crochet Pattern -The Lavender Chair

Materials:

Worsted Weight Cotton Yarn (225 Yards Lily’s Sugar and Cream Cotton)

H 5.00mm Crochet Hook

Yarn Needle

Stitches:

Chain (Ch) – Yarn over. Pull through loop.

Slip Stitch (SS) – Insert hook into stitch. Yarn over. Pull through stitch and loop.

Single Crochet (Sc) – Insert hook into stitch. Yarn over. Draw up loop. Yarn over. Pull through 2 loops.

Half Double Crochet (Hdc) – Yarn over. Insert hook into stitch. Yarn over.  Draw up loop. Yarn over. Pull through 3 loops.

Double Crochet (Dc) – Yarn over. Insert hook into stitch. Yarn over. Draw up loop. Yarn over. Pull through 2 loops. Yarn over. Pull through 2 loops.

Special Stitches:

V-Stitch: (Dc. Chain 1. Dc.) in the same stitch.

Spike Cluster Stitch – *Yarn Over, Insert your hook into the base of the next stitch (where the stitch attaches to the stitch of the previous row), Yarn Over and pull up a loop, Yarn Over, Pull the first loop on your hook through the second and third loops on the hook,* repeat from *to* a total of three times. You will end up with 4 loops remaining on your hook. Yarn over and pull the first loop through the remaining loops on your hook. This completes the Spike Cluster stitch. The Spike Cluster Stitch will always be followed by a Chain to secure the stitch.

Notes:

  • Chain does NOT count as your first stitch (unless otherwise specified). So, when working flat, be sure to work your first stitch in the very first stitch. And when working in the round, be sure to work your first stitch in the same stitch as join.

Instructions:

Base (Make 2): (Green)

Magic Ring

Round 1: Chain 1. 10 Hdc. Join with a ss to the first Hdc made. (10)

Round 2: Chain 1. 2Hdc in each stitch around. Join with a SS to the first Hdc made (20)

Round 3: Chain 1. *2Hdc. Hdc.* Repeat from * to * around. Join with a SS to the first Hdc made. (30)

Round 4: Chain 1. *2Hdc. Hdc in the next 2 stitches.* Repeat from * to * around. Join with a SS to the first Hdc made. (40)

Round 5: Chain 1. *2Hdc. Hdc in the next 3 stitches.* Repeat from * to * around. Join with a SS to the first Hdc made. (50)

Round 6: Chain 1. *2Hdc. Hdc in the next 4 stitches.* Repeat from * to * around. Join with a SS to the first Hdc made. (60)

Round 7: Chain 1. *2Hdc. Hdc in the next 5 stitches.* Repeat from * to * around. Join with a SS to the first Hdc made. (70)

Round 8: Chain 1. *2Hdc. Hdc in the next 6 stitches.* Repeat from * to * around. Join with a SS to the first Hdc made. (80)

Round 9: Chain 1. *2Hdc. Hdc in the next 7 stitches.* Repeat from * to * around. Join with a SS to the first Hdc made. (90)

Round 10: Chain 1. Hdc in the next 9 stitches. *2Hdc. Hdc in the next 8 stitches.* Repeat from * to * around. Join with a SS to the first Hdc made. (99)

Finish off.

For additional support cut a circular piece of cardboard and place between the two circles you created for the base.

*NOTE: For this next round be sure to work in both layers of the base.*

Join with a SS to any stitch.

Round 1: Chain 1. Hdc around. (99) 

Change Color (White)

Round 2: Chain 1. Sc in the 3rd loop of each stitch around. Turn. (99)

Round 3:  Chain 1. Hdc in each stitch around.Join with a SS to the first Hdc made. 

Round 4: Chain 1. Hdc in each stitch around. Join with a SS to the first hdc made. Change to Orange in the last stitch.

Change Color (Orange)

Round 5: Chain 2. Turn. *Spike Cluster Stitch, *Chain 2. Skip the next 2 stitches.* Repeat from * to * around. Change to White.

Change Color (White)

NOTE: In Round 6 you are working in the chain spaces between all Spike Cluster Stitches.

Round 6: Chain 1. Turn. *3 Sc in the next chain space. Skip the next stitch.* Repeat from * around. Join with a ss to the first sc made. Change to Green.

Change Color (Green)

Round 7: Chain 2. Turn.  *(V-stitch) in the next Cluster St from round 5.*  repeat around. Join with a ss to the first Dc made. Change to White

Change Color (White)

Round 8: Chain 1. Turn. *2 Sc between the V-stitches. Sc in chain 1 space.* Repeat from *to* around, Join with a SS to the first Sc made.

Round 9 – 15: Repeat Rounds 3 – 8.

Round 16 – 17: Chain 1. Turn. Sc in each stitch around. Join with a ss to the first Sc. 

Handles (Make 2):

Leaving a long tail for sewing. 

Chain 4

Row 1: Sc in second chain from hook. Sc across. (3)

Row 2 – 44: Chain 1. Sc across. (3)

Finish off leaving a long tail for sewing.

Sew on handles to side of basket
