H 5.00mm Crochet Hook (I 5.50mm Crochet Hook, J 6.00mm Crochet Hook)

  • 4t/5: 16 Sc = 4 inches
  • 6/6x: 14 Sc = 4 inches
  • 7/8: 13 Sc = 4 inches

Stitches:

CH: Chain- Yarn over pull through one loop.

SS: Slip stitch- Insert hook into stitch. Yarn over and pull through both the stitch and loop on the hook.

DC: Double crochet- Yarn over. Insert hook into stitch. Yarn over pull through stitch. Yarn over pull through two loops. Yarn over pull through two loops.

SC: Single crochet- Insert hook into stitch. Yarn over pull through stitch. Yarn over pull through two loops.

Special Stitches:

V- Stitch- Dc. Chain 1. Dc in the same space.

Leave 8″ tail for sewing.

Chain 44.

Row 1: Sc in the second chain from the hook and in each chain across. (43 Sc)

Row 2: Chain 2 (Counts as a stitch). Sc in the next 5 stitches. *Chain 2. Skip 2. Sc in the next 5 stitches.* Repeat from * to * until 2 stitches remain. Chain 1. Skip 1. Sc in the last stitch.

Row 3: Chain 2. Dc in the chain space. (Chain 1. Skip 1. Sc in the next 3 stitches. Chain 1. Skip 1. V-stitch in the next chain 2 space.) x’s 5. Chain 1. Skip 1. Sc in the next 3 stitches. Chain 1. Skip 1. Dc in top of the Chain 2 from previous round.

Row 4: Chain 2. 2Dc in the same stitch. (Chain 1. Skip 1. Sc in the next stitch. Chain 1. Skip 1. 5Dc in the next V-stitch) x’s 5. Chain 1. Skip 1. Sc. Chain 1. Skip 1. 3Dc in the next stitch.

Row 9 – Desired Length: Repeat Rows 3 – 8

Finish off. Sew up the sides leaving 3 (3.25, 3.5) inches for arm holes. Sew 1.5 inches on either side of shoulder.
