Materials:

Worsted Weight Cotton Yarn (Lily’s Sugar and Cream Cottons)

  • White (40 yards)
  • Pink (15 yards)
  • Purple (20 yards)
  • Blue (35 yards)
  • Green (20 yards)
  • Yellow (15 yards)
  • Orange (15 yards)

H 5.00mm Crochet Hook

Gauge:

8 Hdc x 5 rows = 2 inches

Stitches:

Chain (Ch) – Yarn over. Pull through loop.

Slip Stitch (SS) – Insert hook into stitch. Yarn over. Pull through stitch and loop.

Single Crochet (Sc) – Insert hook into stitch. Yarn over. Draw up loop. Yarn over. Pull through 2 loops.

Half Double Crochet (Hdc) – Yarn over. Insert hook into stitch. Yarn over.  Draw up loop. Yarn over. Pull through 3 loops.

Double Crochet (Dc) – Yarn over. Insert hook into stitch. Yarn over. Draw up loop. Yarn over. Pull through 2 loops. Yarn over. Pull through 2 loops.

Tr: (Treble) – Yarn over 2 times. Insert hook into stitch. Yarn over. Draw up loop. Yarn over. Pull through 2 loops. Yarn over. Pull through 2 loops. Yarn over. Pull through 2 loops.

Special Stitches:

Front Post Treble 2 Together (Fptr2tog) – *Yarn over 2 times. Insert hook from front to back around the post. Draw up loop. (Yarn over. Draw through 2 loops.) x’s 2.* Repeat from * to *. Yarn over. Draw through three loops.

Double Treble Double 3 Together (DTD3Tog) – Yarn over. Insert hook from front to back around the post. Draw up loop. Yarn over. Draw through 2 loops. Yarn over 2 times. Insert hook from front to back around the post. Draw up loop. (Yarn over. Draw through 2 loops.) x’s 2. Yarn over. Insert hook from front to back around the post. Draw up loop. Yarn over. Draw through 2 loops. Yarn over. Draw through three loops.

Notes:

  • Chain does NOT count as your first stitch (unless otherwise specified). So, when working flat, be sure to work your first stitch in the very first stitch. And when working in the round, be sure to work your first stitch in the same stitch as join.

Instructions:

Magic Ring (with white)

Round 1: Chain 2. 8Hdc. Join with a SS to the first Hdc made. (8)

Round 2: Chain 2. 2Hdc in each stitch around. Join with a SS to the first Hdc made. (16)

Change color (Pink)

Round 3: Chain 2. *(Dc. Chain 1. Dc.) in the next stitch. Skip the next stitch.* Repeat from * to * around. Join with a SS to the first Dc made.

Change Color (Purple)

Round 4: Join with a SS to the first Chain 1 space. Chain 2. *Dc5tog in the next chain 1 space. Chain 6.* Repeat from * to * around. Join with a SS to the first Dc made.

Change Color (Blue)

Round 5: Join with a SS directly on top of the Dc5tog stitch. Chain 2. *(Hdc. Dc. Tr. Dc. Hdc.) on top of the next Dc5tog. Chain 1. Drop Fptr2tog around the the next 2 Dc from round 3. (SEE NOTES BELOW). Chain 1.* Repeat from * to * around. Join with a SS to the first Hdc made.

NOTE: First Fptr2tog contains the 2nd and 3rd Dc made in round 3. The final Fptr2tog contains the final and 1st Dc made in round 3.

Change Color (White)

Round 6: Join with a SS to the first Fptr2tog. Chain 3. *(Tr. Chain 1.) x’s 5. Chain 2.* Repeat from * to * around. Join with a SS to the first Tr made.

Change Color (Green)

Round 7: Join with a SS to the 3rd Tr made. Chain 1. *Sc in the center Tr of fan. Chain 4. DTD3Tog (See special stitches). Chain 5.* Repeat from * to * around. Join with a SS to the first Sc made.

*NOTE: Work the DTD3Tog across the last treble of fan, treble from round 5, and 1st treble of next fan*

Round 8: Chain 2. Hdc in the next stitch and 4 chains. Chain 2. Skip the next 2 stitches. Hdc in the next 4 chains.* Repeat from * to * around. Join with a SS to the first Hdc made. (72 Hdc + 8 Chain 2 spaces.)

Change Color (Yellow)

Round 9: Chain 2. *Dc 4. Tr. (2Tr. Chain 2. 2Tr.) in the next chain 2 space. Tr. Dc 4. Hdc 2. Sc 2. Drop Dc2Tog in the 2 skipped stitches in round 8. Sc 2. Hdc 2. Dc.* Repeat from * to * around. Join with a SS to the first Dc made.

Change Color (Orange)

Round 10: Chain 1. *Sc 3. Hdc 3. Dc. (Dc. Chain 2 Dc.) in the next chain 2 space. Dc. Hdc 3. Sc 12.* Repeat from * to * around. Join with a SS to the first Sc made.

Change Color (White)

Round 11: Chain 2. *Dc 8. (Dc. Chain 2. Dc.) in the next chain 2 space. Dc 17.* Repeat from * to * around. Join with a SS to the first Dc made.

Change Color (Pink)

Round 12: Chain 1. *Sc 9. (Sc. Chain 2. Sc.) in the next chain 2 space. Sc 18.* Repeat from * to * around. Join with a SS to the first Sc made.

Change Color (Purple)

Round 13: Chain 1. *Sc 10. (Sc. Chain 2. Sc.) in the next chain 2 space. Sc 19.* Repeat from * to * around. Join with a SS to the first Sc made.

Change Color (Blue)

Round 14: Chain 1. *Sc 11. (Sc. Chain 2. Sc.) in the next chain 2 space. Sc 20.* Repeat from * to * around. Join with a SS to the first Sc made.

Change Color (White)

Round 15: Chain 1. *Hdc 12. (Hdc. Chain 2. Hdc.) in the next chain 2 space. Hdc 21.* Repeat from * to * around. Join with a SS to the first Hdc made.

Finish off. Weave in ends.
