Materials:

I 5.50mm Crochet Hook 

Worsted Weight Yarn

  • 75 Yards White
  • 100 Yards red
  • 100 Yards green

Yarn needle

Gauge:

7 Hdc stitches = 2 inches 

Difficulty:

Intermediate 

Stitches: 

SS: Slip stitch- Insert hook into stitch. Yarn over and pull through both the stitch and loop on the hook. 

Ch: Chain- Yarn over pull through one loop.

Sc: Single crochet- Insert hook into stitch. Yarn over pull through stitch. Yarn over pull through two loops. 

Hdc: Half double crochet- Yarn over. Insert hook into stitch. Yarn over pull through stitch. Yarn over pull through three loops.

Dc: Double crochet- Yarn over. Insert hook into stitch. Yarn over pull through stitch. Yarn over pull through two loops. Yarn over pull through two loops.

Special Stitches:

Sc2Tog: Single Crochet 2 Together- Insert hook into stitch. Yarn over. Draw up loop. Insert hook into next stitch. Yarn over. Draw up loop. Yarn over. Pull through all loops on the hook.

Notes: 

  • This pattern can be worked in 1 main color and 1 accent color if you so choose. If you would like to work using 2 or more colors, change colors at the beginning of each round.

Toe (Accent Color):

Magic Ring

Round 1: Ch 1. 10 Hdc. Join with a ss to the first Hdc made. (10) 

Round 2: Ch 1. 2Hdc in each stitch around. Join with a SS to the first Hdc made (20) 

Round 3: Ch 1. *2Hdc. Hdc.* Repeat from * to * around. Join with a SS to the first Hdc made. (30) 

Round 4: Ch 1. *2Hdc. Hdc in the next 2 stitches.* Repeat from * to * around. Join with a SS to the first Hdc made. (40)

Round 5: Ch 1. *2Hdc. Hdc in the next 3 stitches.* Repeat from * to * around. Join with a SS to the first Hdc made. (50) 

Round 6: Ch 1. *2Hdc. Hdc in the next 12 stitches. 2Hdc. Hdc in the next 11 stitches.* Repeat from * to * around. Join with a SS to the first Hdc made. (54) 

Round 7 – 10: Ch 1. Hdc in each stitch around. Join with a SS to the first Hdc made. (54)

Body (Main Color) 

Round 11: Ch 1. *Sc. Skip the next 2 stitches. 5Dc in the next stitch. Skip the next 2 stitches.* Repeat from * to * around. Join with a SS to the first Sc made.

Round 12: Ch 2. *5Dc. Skip the next 2 stitches. Sc. Skip the next 2 stitches.* Repeat from * to * around. Join with a SS to the first Dc made.

Round 13: SS into the next 3 stitches (this will put you in the center of the shell). Ch 1.  *Sc. Skip the next 2 stitches. 5Dc in the next stitch. Skip the next 2 stitches.* Repeat from * to * around. Join with a SS to the first Sc made.

Round 14 – 22: Repeat rounds 12 – 13

Heel (Accent Color):

Row 1: Ch 1. Sc in the next 17 stitches.

Row 2: Ch 1. Sc2tog. Sc in the next 13 stitches. Sc2tog. (15) 

Row 3: Ch 1. Sc2tog. Sc in the next 11 stitches. Sc2tog. (13) 

Row 4: Ch 1. Sc2tog. Sc in the next 9 stitches. Sc2tog. (11) 

Row 5: Ch 1. Sc2tog. Sc in the next 7 stitches. Sc2tog. (9) 

Row 6: Ch 1. Sc2tog. Sc in the next 5 stitches. Sc2tog. (7) 

Row 7: Ch 1. 2 Sc. Sc in the next 5 stitches. 2 Sc. (9)

Row 8: Ch 1. 2 Sc. Sc in the next 7 stitches. 2 Sc. (11)

Row 9: Ch 1. 2 Sc. Sc in the next 9 stitches. 2 Sc. (13)

Row 10: Ch 1. 2 Sc. Sc in the next 11 stitches. 2 Sc. (15)

Finish off leaving semi-long tail. (This tail will be used to sew half of the heel closed) 

Body (Main Color):

In order to hide the joining seam on the back side of stocking, join with a SS to the last Sc made in round 22.

Round 23: Ch 2. 5Dc. Skip the next 2 stitches. Sc. Skip the next 2 stitches. 5Dc. Skip the next 2 stitches. Sc. Skip the next 2 stitches. 5Dc. Skip the next 2 stitches. 5Dc in the next Sc of round 22.  Skip 2 stitches.  *Sc.(this should put you in the center of the shell) Skip the next 2 stitches. 5Dc in the next stitch. Skip the next 2 stitches.* Repeat from * to * around.  Sc. Join with a SS to the first Dc made.

Round 24: SS into the next 3 stitches (this will put you in the center of the shell). Ch 1.  *Sc. Skip the next 2 stitches. 5Dc in the next stitch. Skip the next 2 stitches.* Repeat from * to * around. Join with a SS to the first Sc made.

Round 25: SS into the next 3 stitches (this will put you in the center of the shell). Ch 1.  *Sc. Skip the next 2 stitches. 5Dc in the next stitch. Skip the next 2 stitches.* Repeat from * to * around. Join with a SS to the first Sc made.

Round 26 – 39: Repeat rounds 24 – 25.

Cuff (Accent color):

Round 40: Ch 1. Hdc in each stitch around. Join with a SS to the first Hdc made. (54)

Round 41 – 45: Ch 1. Hdc in each stitch around. Join with a SS to the first Hdc made. (54)

Finish off. Sew Heel.
