Materials:

Worsted Weight Cotton Yarn (225 Yards Lily’s Sugar and Cream Cotton)

H 5.00mm Crochet Hook

Stitches:

Chain (Ch) – Yarn over. Pull through loop.

Slip Stitch (SS) – Insert hook into stitch. Yarn over. Pull through stitch and loop.

Single Crochet (Sc) – Insert hook into stitch. Yarn over. Draw up loop. Yarn over. Pull through 2 loops.

Half Double Crochet (Hdc) – Yarn over. Insert hook into stitch. Yarn over.  Draw up loop. Yarn over. Pull through 3 loops.

Double Crochet (Dc) – Yarn over. Insert hook into stitch. Yarn over. Draw up loop. Yarn over. Pull through 2 loops. Yarn over. Pull through 2 loops.

Notes:

  • Chain does NOT count as your first stitch (unless otherwise specified). So, when working flat, be sure to work your first stitch in the very first stitch. And when working in the round, be sure to work your first stitch in the same stitch as join.

Instructions:

Base (Make 2):

Magic Ring

Round 1: Chain 1. 10 Hdc. Join with a ss to the first Hdc made. (10)

Round 2: Chain 1. 2Hdc in each stitch around. Join with a SS to the first Hdc made (20)

Round 3: Chain 1. *2Hdc. Hdc.* Repeat from * to * around. Join with a SS to the first Hdc made. (30)

Round 4: Chain 1. *2Hdc. Hdc in the next 2 stitches.* Repeat from * to * around. Join with a SS to the first Hdc made. (40)

Round 5: Chain 1. *2Hdc. Hdc in the next 3 stitches.* Repeat from * to * around. Join with a SS to the first Hdc made. (50)

Round 6: Chain 1. *2Hdc. Hdc in the next 4 stitches.* Repeat from * to * around. Join with a SS to the first Hdc made. (60)

Round 7: Chain 1. *2Hdc. Hdc in the next 5 stitches.* Repeat from * to * around. Join with a SS to the first Hdc made. (70)

Round 8: Chain 1. *2Hdc. Hdc in the next 6 stitches.* Repeat from * to * around. Join with a SS to the first Hdc made. (80)

Round 9: Chain 1. *2Hdc. Hdc in the next 7 stitches.* Repeat from * to * around. Join with a SS to the first Hdc made. (90)

Round 10: Chain 1. *2Hdc. Hdc in the next 8 stitches.* Repeat from * to * around. Join with a SS to the first Hdc made. (100)

Finish off.

For additional support cut a circular piece of cardboard and place between the two circles you created for the base.

*NOTE: For this next round be sure to work in both layers of the base.*

Round 11 – 17: Chain 2. *Skip the next stitch. Dc in the next 3 stitches. Dc in the skipped stitch working over the previous 3 stitches.* Repeat from * to * around. Join with a SS to the first Dc made.

Round 18: Chain 1. Sc in each stitch around. Join with a SS to the first sc made.

Finish off

Handles (Make 2):

Leaving a long tail for sewing. 

Chain 4

Row 1: Sc in second chain from hook. Sc across. (3)

Row 2 – 44: Chain 1. Sc across. (3)

Finish off leaving a long tail for sewing.

Sew on handles to side of basket
