Stitches:
SS: (Slip Stitch) – Insert hook into stitch. Yarn over. Pull through stitch and loop.
Ch: (Chain) – Yarn over. Pull through loop.
Sc: (Single Crochet) – Insert hook into stitch. Yarn over. Draw up loop. Yarn over. Pull through 2 loops.
Hdc: (Half Double Crochet) – Yarn over. Insert hook into stitch. Yarn over. Draw up loop. Yarn over. Pull through 3 loops.
Dc: (Double Crochet) – Yarn over. Insert hook into stitch. Yarn over. Draw up loop. Yarn over. Pull through 2 loops. Yarn over. Pull through 2 loops.
Instructions:

Round 1: Chain 1. Hdc in each stitch around. Join with a SS to the first Hdc made. (86)
Round 2: Chain 2. *Skip the next stitch. Dc in the next stitch. Dc in the skipped stitch.* Repeat from * to * around. Join with a SS to the first Dc made.
Repeat round 2 until the cowl measures 7″ (or desired cowl length)
