Worsted Weight Yarn (Loops and Thread Impeccable)

I 5.50mm Crochet Hook

13 Hdc = Approx. 4 inches

Stitches:

CH: Chain- Yarn over pull through one loop.

SS: Slip stitch- Insert hook into stitch. Yarn over and pull through both the stitch and loop on the hook.

DC: Double crochet- Yarn over. Insert hook into stitch. Yarn over pull through stitch. Yarn over pull through two loops. Yarn over pull through two loops.

HDC: Half double crochet- Yarn over. Insert hook into stitch. Yarn over pull through stitch. Yarn over pull through three stitches.

Notes:

  • Turning chain does NOT count as your first stitch (unless otherwise specified). So, when working flat, be sure to work your first stitch in the very first stitch. And when working in the round, be sure to work your first stitch in the same stitch as join.
  • Drop Dc’s are worked in the chain 1 space 2 rounds prior unless otherwise stated.

Instructions:

Chain 80. Join with a SS to the first chain made to form a loop. If you have trouble doing this, check out my fool proof for Joining Chains in the Round.

Round 1: Chain 1. Hdc in each chain around. Join with a SS to the first Hdc made. (80)

Round 2: Chain 2. *Dc 3. Chain 1. Skip 1.* Repeat from * to * around. Join with a SS to the first Dc made.

Change Color

Round 3: Chain 2. *Dc. Chain 1. Skip 1. Dc. Drop Dc in the skipped stitch from previous round.* Repeat from * to * around. Join with a SS to the first Dc made.

Round 4: Chain 2. *Dc. Chain 1. Skip 1. Dc 2.* Repeat from * to * around. Join with a SS to the first Dc made.

Change Color

Round 5: Chain 2. *Dc. Drop Dc in the chain space 2 rounds prior. Dc. Chain 1. Skip 1.* Repeat from * to * around. Join with a SS to the first Dc made.

Round 6: Chain 2. *Dc 3. Chain 1. Skip 1.* Repeat from * to * around. Join with a SS to the first Dc made.

Change Color

Round 7: Chain 2. *Dc. Chain 1. Skip 1. Dc. Drop Dc in chain space 2 rounds prior.

Round 8 – 10: Repeat round 4 – 6.

Change Color

Round 11: Chain 2. *Dc 3. Drop Dc in chain 2 space from 2 rounds prior.* Repeat from * to * around. Join with a SS to the first Dc made.

Round 12: Chain 1. Hdc in each stitch around. Join with a SS to the first Hdc made. (80)

Finish off. Weave in ends.
