Materials:

Worsted Weight Cotton Yarn

H 5.00mm Crochet Hook/I 5.50mm Crochet Hook

4 Hdc = Approx. 1 inch

Stitches:

SS: (Slip Stitch) – Insert hook into stitch. Yarn over. Pull through stitch and loop.

Ch: (Chain) – Yarn over. Pull through loop.

Sc: (Single Crochet) – Insert hook into stitch. Yarn over. Draw up loop. Yarn over. Pull through 2 loops.

Hdc: (Half Double Crochet) – Yarn over. Insert hook into stitch. Yarn over.  Draw up loop. Yarn over. Pull through 3 loops.

Dc: (Double Crochet) – Yarn over. Insert hook into stitch. Yarn over. Draw up loop. Yarn over. Pull through 2 loops. Yarn over. Pull through 2 loops.

Notes:

  • Turning chain does NOT count as your first stitch (unless otherwise specified). So, when working in the round, be sure to work your first stitch in the same stitch as join.
  • Use H 5.00mm Crochet Hook for size 24 months and size I 5.50mm Crochet Hook for size 2 and 3.

Instructions

Bodice (Blue Jean)

Chain 60

Row 1: Hdc in 3rd chain from hook and in each chain across (58)

Row 2 – 9: Chain 1. Hdc in each stitch across. (58)

Row 10: Chain 1. Hdc in the first stitch. Dc in the next 2 stitches. Tr in the next 3 stitches. Dc in the next 2 stitches. Hdc until 9 stitches remain. Dc in the next 2 stitches. Tr in the next 3 stitches. Dc in the next 2 stitches. Hdc in the last 2 stitches.

DONT TURN. Continue on to button band

Button Band

(Button band is created working along the side  of rows 10 – 1)

Row 1: Chain 1 (Counts as first Sc). Sc in the same space. *Sc in the next row. 2Sc in the next row.* Repeat from * to * across until 1 row remains. Sc in the last row. (14 Sc + chain 1)

Row 2 – 3: Chain 1. Sc across.

DONT TURN. Continue on to waistline

Waistline

(Beginning of waistline portion is worked in the side of button bands row and chains from beginning of the pattern)

Round 1: Chain 1. Hdc in the same space and the next 2 rows. Hdc around into the next 58 stitches. Join with a SS to the first Hdc made. (61)

Round 2: Chain 1. Hdc around. Join with a SS to the first Hdc made. (61)

Finish off.

Skirt (White and Red)

Join with a SS to the center of the back of the dress.

Round 1: Chain 1. Skip the very first stitch. *Sc in the next 3 stitches. (Hdc. Dc.) in the next stitch. (Dc. Tr. Dc.) in the next stitch. (Dc. Hdc.) in the next stitch.* Repeat from * to * around. Join with a SS to the first Sc made.

Round 2:  Chain 1. *Dc3tog. Dc in the next 3 stitches. 3Dc in the next stitch. Dc in the next 3 stithches.* Repeat from * to * around. Join with a SS to the first Dc made.

Round 3: SS into the next 2 stitches (you will work in this stitch at the end of the round). Chain 2. *Dc in the next 3 stitches. 3Dc in the next stitch. Dc in the next 3 stitches. Dc3tog.* Repeat from * to * around. Join with a SS to the first Dc made.

Round 4: SS into the next stitch. (you will work in this stitch at the end of the round). Chain 2. *Dc in the next 3 stitches. 3Dc in the next stitch. Dc in the next 3 stitches. Dc3tog.* Repeat from * to * around. Join with a SS to the first Dc made.

Repeat round 4 until you reach desired length.

Button Holes

Button hole section will be worked across the front of the waistline and bodice. Join with a SS to the side of round 1 of waistline.

Row 1: Chain 1. Sc in the same space. 2 Sc in the side of Row 1 of Bodice. *Sc in the next row. 2Sc in the next row.* Repeat from * to * across until 1 row remains (row 10). Sc in the last row. (16 + Chain 1)

Row 2: Chain 1. Sc in the next stitch. *Chain 2. Skip the next 2 stithces. Sc in the next 3 stitches.* Repeat from * to * across.

Round 3: Chain 1. Sc in each stitch across. (16 + Chain 1)

Straps:

Join with a SS to the 1 treble stitch in row 10 of bodice.

Row 1: Chain 1. Sc in the same stitch and in the next 2 stitches. (3Sc)

Row 2: Chain 1. Sc across.

Repeat row 2 until your strap measures 6.5 – 6.75 inches.

Do the same for the strap on the other side.

Attach the straps to the back.

Finish off. Weave in ends.
