Stitches:

CH: Chain- Yarn over pull through one loop.

SS: Slip stitch- Insert hook into stitch. Yarn over and pull through both the stitch and loop on the hook.

DC: Double crochet- Yarn over. Insert hook into stitch. Yarn over pull through stitch. Yarn over pull through two loops. Yarn over pull through two loops.

SC: Single crochet- Insert hook into stitch. Yarn over pull through two loops.

HDC: Half double crochet- Yarn over. Insert hook into stitch. Yarn over pull through stitch. Yarn over pull through three stitches.

Notes:

  • Turning chain does NOT count as your first stitch (unless otherwise specified). So, when working flat, be sure to work your first stitch in the very frist stitch. And when working in the round, be sure to work your first stitch in the same stitch as join.
  • Size H hook for size 24 months and I hook for sizes 2t and 3t.

[Hdc. Chain 1. Hdc.] in the next chain. Hdc in the next 19 chains. [Hdc. Chain 1. Hdc.] in the next chain. Hdc in the remaining 5 chains.

Row 2: Chain 1. Hdc in the same stitch and in the next 5 stitches. [Hdc. Chain 1. Hdc] in the chain 1 space. Hdc in the next 21 stitches.  [Hdc. Chain 1. Hdc.] in the chain 1 space. Hdc in the next 14 stitches. [Hdc. Chain 1. Hdc.] in the chain 1 space. Hdc in the next 21 stithces. [Hdc. Chain 1. Hdc.] in the chain 1 space. Hdc in the remaining 6 stitches.

Row 3: Chain 1. Hdc in the same stitch and in the next 6 stitches. [Hdc. Chain 1. Hdc] in the chain 1 space. Hdc in the next 23 stitches.  [Hdc. Chain 1. Hdc.] in the chain 1 space. Button Band:

Row 1: Chain 1 (Counts as first Sc.). Sc in the Side of row 5 and in the side of row 4. 2 Sc in the side of row 3. Sc in the side of row 2. 2 sc in the side of  row 1. (7Sc + Chain 1)

Row 2 – 4: Chain 1 (Counts as first Sc.). Sc across. (7Sc + Chain 1)

DON’T TURN. Continue on to Arm Shaping

Arm Shaping and Skirt:

Round 1: Chain 1. Make 1 Hdc in the side of row 4, 3, 2, and 1 form Button band. Hdc in the next 10 stitches. Hdc in the chain space. Chain 5. Skip the next 29 stitches. Hdc in the chain 1 space. Hdc in the next 22 stitches. Hdc in the next chain 1 space. Chain 5. Skip the next 29 stitches. Hdc in the next chain 1 space. Hdc in the next 10 stitches. Join with a SS to the first Hdc made. (50Hdc + 2 chain 5 spaces)

Round 2: Chain 1. Hdc in each stitch and chain stitch around. Join with a SS to the first Hdc made. (60 Hdc)

Round 3: Chain 3. Tr in each stitch around. Join with a SS to the first Treble made. (60 Tr)

Round 4: Chain 1. Hdc in each stitch around. Join with a SS to the first Hdc made. (60 Hdc)

Round 5: (Note: For this round you will NOT skip any stitches unless noted). Chain 1. {Sc. Chain 3.} repeat a total of 3 times. Sc. Chain 3. Skip the next stitch. *{Sc. Chain 3.} repeat a total of 4 times. Sc. Chain 3. Skip the next stitch.* Repeat from * to * around until 1 stitch remains. Sc. Chain 3. Join with a SS to the first Sc made.

Round 6:  SS into the chain 3 space. Chain 1. *Sc in the next chain 3 space (first Sc of the round will be worked in same place as ss). Chain 3. Sc in the next chain 3 space. Skip the next chain 3 space. 7Dc in the next chain 3 space. Skip the next chain 3 space.* Repeat from * to * around. Join with a SS to the first Sc made.

Round 7:  SS into the chain 3 space. Chain 1. *Sc in the next chain 3 space. (first Sc will be worked in the same space). [Dc. Chain 1.] in the next 6 Dc. Dc in the next dc.* Repeat from * to * around. Join with a SS to the first Sc made.

Round 8: SS across into the 2nd chain 1 space. Chain 1. *[Sc in the next chain 1 space. (first sc will be worked in the same space). Chain 3.] Repeat from [ to ] a total of 4 times. Skip the next Dc and Chain 1 space. Dc3tog over the next 3 stitches. Chain 3. Skip the next chain 1 space and Dc.* Repeat from * to * around. Join with a SS to the first Sc made.

Round 9: SS into the next Chain 3 space. Chain 1. *Sc in the next chain 3 space (first sc will be worked in the same space). Chain 3.* Repeat from * to * around Join with a SS to the first Sc made.

Repeat Rounds 6 – 9 until desired length is achieved.

Button Holes:

Join with a SS to the side of Row 1.

Row 1: Evenly Sc 10 across the sides of row 1 – 7. (10 Sc + Turning Chain 1)

Row 2: Chain 1 (Counts as first Sc.). Sc across. (10 Sc + Turning Chain 1)
